    Pros

Learning opportunities are more as per global level leaders but Indian management persons are doing more internal politics.

    Kontras

No growth opportunity especially for Diploma or Degree or MBA holders. Impossible to go into the next level by doing correctly(no ethical issue). We can go to next level by doing some criminal activities in India.

Ich arbeite seit weniger als einem Jahr bei Minerals Technologies als Vollzeit

    Pros

I only joined the company 6 months ago but really enjoy: - its very strong position in a limited portfolio of businesses (minerals) - its unique culture of lean manufacturing, Operational Excellence, continuous improvement - its commitment to growth (in Asia) - its very strong Leadership Council (among the most brilliant people I have met and worked with) - the high quality of the colleagues

    Kontras

Company was known for micro-management, decisions centralized in New-York, leading to slow decision-making. But with CEO Joe Muscari having passed away, there will be opportunities for change.

    Rat an das Management

Consider empowerment of managers, in a strictly defined environment with clear targets and transparent policies. You will unleash a lot of potential !

    Pros

Mid level management and plant employees have always had a high work ethic and devotion to their jobs and the communities they and work in.

    Kontras

Previous comments on the (now former) CEO and top management team are spot on. CEO and leadership council pay increased dramatically over the past 10 years while most of the company had minimal pay raises and saw benefit cuts. The introduction of lean manufacturing started out positively but regressed into a numbers game to "show" analysts progress. # of events held is the metric measured not effectiveness of... those. Ethics at company have been compromised in dealing with vendors, customers and employees. Management goal is to maximize earnings short term.

See if you can regain some sense of commitment to improving the lives of your employees instead of treating them as disposable assets. Share the success of the company with all not just the top of the organization chart.

Ich habe für mehr als 10 Jahre bei Minerals Technologies gearbeitet ()

    Pros

Very good pay and benefits, very solid safety culture and solid commitment to excellence, always looking for ways to improve the business, technology is average but functional.

    Kontras

Leadership on the local, regional and corporate level is draconian and profit is king. Work life balance is non existent, the reporting requirements are very heavy and cumbersome. Human resources is a functional arm of management and only interested in keeping corporate out of legal trouble. HR has never been helpful to the rank and file. Employees fired more often than any other company I had worked for. Local... managers are terminated on a whim and there is no consistency. Constant reorganizations. They say they have standards of behavior but they only apply to the local workforce. Good people leave and have left because of all the above.

The making of money at the expense of the person is the biggest issue with MTI. Everything else they do is for show. I witnessed 30 year tenured managers fired without notice for trumped up charges, then saw the people that had replaced them fired in turn. A CEO lasted 6 months because the old CEO wouldn't get out of the way and retire. The sales force in the field are probably some of the nastiest human beings... ever to walk the earth. They try to make up for their shortcomings by saying the customer wants this or that and make unreasonable demands on the plants. The entire professional cadre is always on notice, tense and uptight. People survive by doing the minimum and just going along and hoping for a better day. This type of company attracts the worst kind of managers and leaders, bullies and small minded people.

Ich arbeite bei Minerals Technologies (Vollzeit)

    Pros

I have a job, but not one I look forward to going to anymore!

    Kontras

The entire focus of the company is on Operational Excellence, 5S, Kaizens, just to list a few, which leaves little time for actual work. I understand the importance to a point but this is overboard. I worked for the previous company Amcol prior to the MTI buyout. Amcol was an awesome company that stood for something and was a company that had ethics. You no longer feel like a person but a number. They don't pay... bills on time, net 90+. Safety is subpar. There is no open, transparent, two way communications as preached by the company. The values are good on paper but that is as far as they go. No growth, buy good successful companies and bleed them dry!

    Pros

As a former employee, it's a shame that MTI was able to obtain a loan to purchase a company the same size that they were. It's also important to note that Amcol, the company that they acquired, had a culture that appreciated its people, and understood that it's the people that make a company great, not statistics and processes. Give the current value of the MTI stock, the management at MTI might be realizing this,... but I doubt it. They took a culture that was family oriented, goal oriented, had high sites on the future, and absolutely dismantled it.

    Kontras

Everything. Most of the talent at Amcol was either let go, or they left on their own. With the people go the relationships, the knowledge of the businesses, and the reputation of a company. The arrogance of the upper management, particularly the CEO, is nauseating. It's a company that wasn't fully aware of what it was purchasing, it just rushed to pull the trigger, they over paid for it, and not they have more debt... with a dying company.

    Rat an das Management

Fire the CEO. But it's probably too late to resurrect a good portion of the businesses nevertheless. Competition was able to find significant gaps in the businesses that were irresponsible and carelessly over managed by MTI, and the hole is probably too bid to dig out of at this point. It's now a company with a lot of debt, and no clear path to compete. As the talent goes, so goes the company.
