    More than other places I've worked, this company has a strong mission. They really believe in the quality of the digital and printed course materials they produce and in helping students. Colleagues are smart and pretty co-operative. Good culture.

    I have really enjoyed working for McGraw-Hill. I have worked for the other major publishers, and McGraw-Hill is by far the best of them. Obviously it all depends on your direct manager, but overall, the company cares about employees. Even when tough decisions are made, they have seemed to take care of those impacted. McGraw-Hill has the best products in the industry and still has a lot of growth potential. Most employees...

    Pros

    Company's structure is constantly changing, good for those who thrive in the agile environment. Good place for graduates to earn their stripes and move on.

    Top down management style. Very political. Was a family orientated company culture but now it is very corporate driven. 5 years back, the average employment length of an employee is about 8-10 years. Now, it is about 2 years. Most of its long serving employees have been retrenched or have left. Health benefits, overtime allowance and every other common perks have been cut back in 2017.

    Pros

    Flexible, able to work from home often, given a MacBook Pro and iPhone during onboarding. Good work/life balance and friendly colleagues. Good health insurance, had a nice year-end bonus.

    Kontras

    It's not an agile company at all. They're centering the business around digital products and no one can get them to work properly. Frustrating experience for all customers. Feels like working in a silo sometimes, not a lot of cross-functional communication. Also don't see a direct path for growth here.

    The people are great and really into collaboration. A true sense of community is being fostered from the top down, which is great for a large company. At the end of the day you really do feel like you're making a difference and can feel good about what you do.

    Kontras

    There's not a lot of room for growth and reorgs/restructuring seem to happen frequently and without much explanation behind them. A lot of talk is given to changing the company's vision of being a digital leader, but much of the company is still solely focused on the traditional paper textbook model.
