    Pros

    I really loved working for MTS. I began working for MTS with almost no experience. They spent a lot of time teaching me and coaching me to execute my job successfully. They challenged me to grow and allowed me to learn new processes and responsibilities. This company invests a lot of time into their employees and I always felt like a valued part of the team.
    I really enjoyed everyone I worked with. The people made the experience so much fun while working hard to get the job done. Such a great group of people there.
    The management was more than willing to work with my schedule to accommodate the unexpectedness of family life. I cannot express how grateful I am for the flexibility they extended to me. I was able to work from home some days when I had a sick child or come in late and make up hours for doctors visits. Speaking of which, benefits are fantastic with MTS. Great insurance.

    I really can't think of any cons. The SVP was very open and up front with the state of the company. They informed us when we won contracts, when we lost them, and how we were reaching goals for the year. I was surprised at first at the frank nature of which he spoke about financials but I appreciated the transparency of it all.

    Pros

    Clean office, good benefits, decent equipment, some of the non-management people were quite nice to work with.

    A lot of that typical Beltway machismo "work hard/play hard" BS expelled by people worried more about happy hour than the contracts. I was hired to work at MTS' office in Arlington in late 2012. I was hired as part of a team to work on distance learning for the FAA.

    My time there was all to brief.

    We were constantly being told that we were waiting on the FAA to approve our resumes before we could begin work on the actual contract, so in the meantime we worked on other overhead projects. We waited and waited. Being told "I wouldn't worry, it's a matter of time." and that the FAA was always slow in approving these things. Then we would get calls after work from the PMs asking us if we could give them ANYTHING they could add to our resumes to beef them up. At that point I knew that was it. They were grasping at straws and the FAA wasn't going to approve our resumes, so I prepared for the inevitable.

    A month after my start date (almost to the day) the entire team was let go. Some of the team members had moved to the area specifically for the job and were unsure of what to do or where to go. We never got a concrete explanation as to why the FAA supposedly didn't approve our resumes, everyone on the team was qualified. That's the only thing that bothered me about it.

    I can't really say anything. It was a very bush-league thing to do, to hire people only to lay them off a month later.

    That 5 star comment was a bunch of BS, posted by senior management to boost this pathetic company's terrible ratings. Only good thing about this company is flexibility of hours, benefits and a handful of good people. Nothing more to offer you.

    Kontras

    Absolutely no room for growth. A career blackhole. Management reserves semi upper level positions for favorites (suck ups and people willing to work ridiculous overtime hours for crap pay along with overload of responsibilities) A place where peoples skills and talents go to die. Dominant use of company proprietary software and tools that are completely useless in the outside professional world. I could go on, but would turn into a grocery list of negative comments.

    Senior management is the worst! All smiles, giggles and small talk up front, but will not hesitate to drive a knife in your back at first chance they get to make themselves look good before their own bosses or set an example. Beware. I should mention a few names but will spare these two faced people. They know who they are ;).

    Try to read and act as if you cared for your people:
    - Your staff is over worked and under paid for the amount of work you make them do.
    - You are down to the bare minimum of employees due to how bad it sucks there, and you save yourself overhead by not hiring, or giving people salary increases.
    - You slave those that decide to stick around. After hours and weekends.
    - Morale is tragically low, and you have no idea or desire to correct it.
    - You don't level with people that their company is broke. Instead you feed your people false promises of great things to come, and they never do. It is deceptive.
    - Make sure you pay contractors on time. Helping MTS is not a hobby, in case you haven't figured that out.
    - Promotions are a thing of the past, because you know they cost money in salary bumps. Money you are not willing to invest on people that have been there through good and bad times for the company. Absolutely nothing to look forward to in terms of their careers.
    - You run a dead end sweat shop. People have more opportunities working for McDonalds. How sad is that, when you are a government contractor.
    - Again, I will spare you the rest. Figure it out! Your people depend on you, and you are failing them miserably.

    If you are an executive, you get free breakfast and lunch every day and spend your day playing solitaire or not even bothering to show up.

    Kontras

    Leadership has no clue, will lie to get what they want out of you, hire rainmakers who they pay a ton of money and then don't produce, and then let valuable employees go because they wasted so much money. Incompetent management. Can't pay their bills.

    Start by buying your own meals. Cut loose the hangers ons that aren't doing anything for the benefit of the company. Actually show up every day. Stop playing games on your computers and actually do some work. If you don't want to work, close the company down.

With a small team, there are many opportunities to try different tasks and grow your talents. The team always goes above-and-beyond to exceed client expectations.
