    Fire Jason Providakes and Rich Byrne. Make Pete Sherlock or Kerry Buckley the CEO. Forget the vanity projects. Shut down the portfolio effort - it's caused more problems, and introduced more management hassles, than it's solved. Stop communicating with your employees using glad-handing nonsense. And please - please - don't embarrass yourselves by having the Employee Experience Team respond to this review.

    The old MITRE, I miss thee. There used to be a culture of investment in employees. Management meant it, too. The talent level also used to be quite high. It's dropping now that we're pushing out people who weren't self-promoters but were world-class experts in their field. Without the old hands to learn from, what's going to motivate the young?

    We've had recent layoffs and firings "for performance" that actually have to do with senior management monitoring people's social media accounts and getting rid of the ones whose political beliefs the managers personally disagree with.     Define a single HQ. CorpOps utilizes 50% coverage at Bedford and McLean when demand at McLean for support to technical programs is skyrocketing. Bedford is jaded about what being busy looks like. Listen to what boots on the ground have to say. They're the ones doing the work. Don't schedule focus groups and interviews if you're not going to change anything.

    Pros

    Not required to hit metrics. Very laid back and very to work at, as long as you stay within your box of responsibility. Stable contracting situation, without the worry of being unemployed or needing to jump from one contract to another. There seems to be a career progression model for long-term employees or employees in the fold. Seems to like to promote or hire from within. Nice people to work with.

    I was led to believe I being hired for a specific job, but was then switched to something unrelated. It is just a contracting company. There is not a long-term career vision at MITRE.     Excellent opportunities to learn and expand your skillset. Work life balance is unparalleled in the industry. The FFRDC contracting mechanism allows them to respond to Government issues more easily than can for-profit SETA firms, so MITRE grows thanks to an unfair advantage.
