Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei LabCorp (Weniger als ein Jahr)

    Pros

No weekends, paid holidays off, flexible start and end times if you take public transportation. Paid ORCA pass annually for only $125 out of pocket. That's the cost for one month.

    Kontras

Equipment is old and failing. I don't have an cubicle or computer yet, even though they knew I was starting for about a month before. Very short staffed for the amount of work that goes through here. Can't keep specimen processing staff long enough to thoroughly train them, hence a lot of specimen errors in shipping, handling, etc. If you drive in for the day, due to an appt or personal reasons, parking is $18. Not enough computer ports for workstations. Not enough vacation time. Only 2 weeks in addition to holidays.

    Rat an das Management

Need to issue maybe 6 free parking passes annually to staff who take public transportation, for those days when the trains don't run, or if they have Dr. appts, etc. That would help employees immensely, and not cost corporate anything, as there are many empty parking stalls on every floor of the garage daily. Get functioning lab equipment, centrifuges, and slide stainers. It literally cost more in tech time and delays than if the old stuff was just replaced and not continuously patched together with old parts and milked along way past when it should have been discarded. Offer more vacation time, and maybe retain processing staff longer. It would benefit corporate, as even a few missed tests due to discarded specimens that can't be tested cost way more than you pay a processing tech for a day.

    Pros

Couriers get personal use of cars for $50/every 2 weeks. You are taxed as imputed income for percentage of personal use and per mile. Still cheaper than owning a car. Other positions pay is low to mid range. Health insurance is high, but many choices. Hard to afford on some of the low end salaries. Ability to earn $500 toward FSA ($1000 if spouse is on insurance) is nice. Overtime in our department if you like it. Management complains but it is what it is.

    Kontras

One branch does not talk to another. Best practices are not shared across divisions or branches. Technology is in the dark ages for logistics. Management SAYS you can go up the chain of command... but dear god don't go over YOUR supervisor. Never worked for a company that has no corporate newsletter other than an occasional blog post from the CEO. The smaller the branch, the less you know about the company.

    Rat an das Management

LISTEN to your frontline people.... IOPs, PSTs, couriers, accessioners. THEY are the ones who actually see and hear what is going on with clients. Clients often only see them not the SAEs and KAEs. (sales people). Clients TELL us things they are hesitant to tell you. PUBLISH a national newsletter with stories and best practices. STOP with the secrecy. QUEST is going to eat our lunch now that UHC is not exclusive with LCA.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei LabCorp gearbeitet (Weniger als ein Jahr)

    Pros

I would say at the time LabCorp was one my best places of cytology employment over a 22 year period in the industry. They were fair for salary and raises at the time and the schedule was flexible. Benefits were somewhat okay and payroll was deposited in a timely manner.

    Kontras

LabCorp and Quest tend to close labs and relocate the work to other states. If you can leave family and friends behind it may be a good deal for you. That’s the most disappointing part of being a cytotechnologist is that labs can be closed, bought out or relocated and your left to scramble. Not a good feeling but what’s left behind to take the place of larger labs are the small crappy labs, mom and pop labs. Less pay, higher expectations, awful hours and no respect.

    Rat an das Management

You have it all figured out on paper so I don’t have any advice for numbers only management. You don’t care nor listen so why bother.
