    - Opportunities to take on lots of responsibility in a short amount of time. Great for building up skills quickly as a junior engineer. - Young office with amazing co-workers who are passionate and determined.     - Depending on your group, you can get stuck with certain projects. You must be vocal and adamant in order to not get pigeonholed into any design category. Needing to take initiative is one thing, but having to without much support is sadly more common. - Flat organization structure and ambiguous career trajectory make advancing in one's career very unclear and subject to favoritism.

    Top notch and a huge breath of resources are available to engineers. Senior staff is busy but commonly takes time out of their day to answer any questions other engineers have.

    My experience tells me KPFF sells themselves a little high. Still a solid company.

    City is awesome. Free coffee

    Principals and Associates will treat you like garbage. Ranks are filled with B players, thinking they are A players. Best engineers move on after just a couple of years. Expect high turnovers/layoffs the moment there is shortage of work. High working hours and Overtime pay is 1.0. Structures Principals are not good people. Civil and Surveys are now short of worthless, the moment key players left the company.

    Continue to keep the focus on building relationships through trust and don't ever lose sight of the long-term objective of perpetuating the practice/profession through stable (and thoughtful) transition. Management has gone to great lengths to do this in the past and continues to do so today.

    Pros

    I like the diversity of projects. Equal division of transportation, site development and international work. Take your pick. It's satisfying to see and work on so many projects that define Portland and the surrounding towns - Portland Airport, Convention Center, Oregon Zoo, Chinese and Japanese Gardens, East Bank Esplanade, multiple buildings and bridges, etc. It's never boring.

    Reading over some of the positive reviews, clearly not what's happening. Company does well to train fresh graduates, but lacks growth

    Principals/managers have constant pressure to perform company goals. Unfortunately this is a perfect example of a sweatshop.
