    HR over compensates for toxic workplace conditions by providing great pay and benefits.

    Kontras

    No room for advancement, management heavy, complacent employees who have given up on having a voice with Korea. No actual R&D happens here, it all happens in Korea and the US just validates Korean work or works to disprove it to sway bad decisions made by HQ.

    Career Opportunities: An awesome place to learn and improve your engineering design capabilities and 3D CAD modeling capabilities with lots of room for promotions Compensation & Benefits: Full healthcare, dental, eye-care, good salaries, bonuses every year, free lunches and BBQs every so often (at least once a month) Work/Life Balance: There are definitely times when we had to work late or take unexpected... travel, sometimes to Korea, but they were extremely flexible with day-to-day commitments if you had to leave early or take an appointment during the day, as long as you were committed the other times, especially during key deadlines Senior Management: Good direction for HATCI's future in vehicle development, and I think most employees agree with the direction Culture & Values: A lot of people might not agree with the Korean work culture, but having worked with a lot of Koreans, I really admire their passion and dedication. It's not necessarily for me, but I can understand why they work so hard and may push others to do so as well. I believe the Korean coordinators at HATCI really tried to understand American culture as well and tried not to force their culture onto others. That being said, the Korean coordinators do have high expectations and might expect a lot from you. Summary: I worked in the engineering design department for several years, and I truly believe that HATCI has a bright future with the current leadership and direction. If you are interested in designing your own parts, this is the place to get a hands-on experience in the many different engineering aspects of vehicle development. I got to work with an amazing group of bright, talented engineers who were passionate about vehicle development and dedicated to doing a great job. Sure, we worked long hours at times, but there was nothing more satisfying than being surrounded by your closest co-workers/friends and pressing the sunmit button in the earliest hours of the morning.

    It was somewhat difficult to manage a relationship while working here. You may be expected to travel quite a bit, and it does get old after a while.

    Very much a Caste System. Advancement is at a snails pace if you are a Technician (mechanic). Engineers get moved up faster. The Mechanics are treated like garbage and as if they are of little importance. Engineers feel entitled and more important than they are-all feel like they are Managers. Most have the "I have a degree, I"m better than you" attitude Actual Managers are spineless and are only Managers by... title. None have leadership capabilities, nor do they have any formal training in management. They just get promoted up to that position after capping out as Engineers. Constantly making empty promises and feigning to have the employees best interests in mind. Expectations are low and input is disregarded unless you are Korean. American staff constantly kowtow to the K-staff. It's the culture there and it leaves people defeated . Safety is a very low priority with very little safety guidelines or training. Any rules that are adopted are disregarded by some and eventually disappear. No repercussions for violations of safety. Speeding (sometimes up to 100 mph), passing in a no passing zone, and generally reckless driving are commonplace while testing offsite on public roads. No Safety Protocol on site . It's more reactionary. When something happens, then they act upon it- temporarily. After a short time things return to the former way of doing things. Many here just getting a paycheck.

    Good Benefits, Get to travel to california and korea sometimes, BBQs & Christmas parties

    Everything else are under cons, Miser on Salary, No scope of career advancements, Managers been managing more than decade and dont plan to move anywhere anytime soon, Boring place where innovation is discouraged and gossips are normal way of business. Forget about learning anything, you will even forget what you already know. The only focus is on Weekly reports monthly reports and the indentation and font size,... margins and pictures. The real engineering is done in Korea, these guys just sit and wait for the mercy of HQ's directions. These guys never get any specification, there test cases are laughably inaccurate. Monkey testing is the only testing they know of. The advancement in career is done based on your age rather than your merit, the people that get promoted are either because they are koreans or korean-yes-men.

    Nice building, gym, free coffee.

    Kontras

    No growth if you are not a Korean. Less pay than Korean staff. Too much control from Korea. All teams include Koreans to watch over others. High turn over of none Korean staff. Avoid this place at all costs.
