    Kontras

    Da fällt mir nichts ein.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Games Workshop

    Pros

We've got a great product, great colleagues, great customers, the current CEO seems to know what he is doing, the job is fun. Indefinite contracts.

    Kontras

Flat structures mean that there's not a lot of positions to strive for, management jobs mostly require relocation to the UK. Base pay could be a bit better, even qualified personnel don't really make that much. Profit share is nice, though.

    Rat an das Management

Keep doing what you're doing now, it's working. Don't skimp on employing people, we're growing and the amount of stuff we release every month makes it sometimes - while fun - very stressful.

    Pros

Very good environment, very flexible and no problems or what so ever. Understanding people, helping always when asked and very caring.

    Kontras

A bit far for me because I had to use train to get there. Sometimes a bit hectic during rush hours.

    Rat an das Management

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Games Workshop gearbeitet (Über 5 Jahre)

    Pros

Passionate people throughout the company, many of whom celebrate your success as much as your own. Support is readily available for those who need it.

    Kontras

Decisions seem to work on a pendulum basis, which can lead to a lack of stability from higher management. Sadly ego often seems to be a leading problem during any interdepartment disputes.

    Rat an das Management

When decisions are being made that impact multiple departments, give staff a clear indication of what is going on and the overall goal to be achieved. The constant chop and change helps few.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Games Workshop

    Pros

    - 50% discount is a hefty bonus on the product if you're a fan of what they produce
    - Lots of good social events and outings with the company social club, at a low price
    - On site bar right on the premises
    - Fun and unique Intellectual Property to work with

    Kontras

    - "Company Culture" is a buzzword, but has no meaning or relevance, and is mostly used to justify nepotism or punish any face that is arbitrarily considered to "not fit".
    - Zero career progression and any attempts to move laterally inside the company are usually treated with the same detachment as if you were a stranger.
    - Nepotism is rife across the company, and there is an emphasis on blind submission to higher ups or you face the stigma of being seen as "negative".
    - Company wide tendency to fire staff with very little provocation, and KPIs are enforced with irrational ferocity, leading to excessive staff turnover.

    Rat an das Management

Address the near militant approach to managing staff and crushing constructive feedback. Listen to your employees, develop them, and treasure their contribution to the success of the company, instead of burning through them like a disposal resource. Genuinely invest in making the workforce better, and the company an only benefit.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Games Workshop gearbeitet (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

Get to work with Exciting IP
    Discounts on Toys
    Onsite canteen
    Sharesave Scheme

    Kontras

Staff are frequently promoted or appointed without any job knowledge or relevant skills. This stems from a culture of 'fit over skill' which is enforced so strictly that everyone becomes afraid of speaking out against it. Even worse, because staff have no training or background, but are hired based on personality alone, they end up covering for mistakes by lying, bullying and scapegoating. Staff with outside training are then treated with suspicion and hostility. As a woman I have found this to particularly affect me, being over ruled in meetings by less experienced male staff with no training, even on specific technical points.

'Fit', especially in the main studio soon became a macho culture where staff with disabilities were excluded and victimised, but no-one dared say anything for fear of challenging the company values.

Even admin staff, especially schedulers, were out of the depth frequently covering up by lying, passing the buck, even while trying to take over another person's responsibilities. These led to frequent unpaid overtime to make up for scheduling mistakes or redoing work that wasn't right first time.

    Rat an das Management

Stop valuing 'fit' - which is widely abused - over skill.
Make sure staff are trained for the jobs they have, including managers.
    Implement anti-bullying policy.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Games Workshop gearbeitet (Weniger als ein Jahr)

    Pros

The PTO/ VACA time is incredible, Pay is decent, most of the people seem nice.

    Kontras

They want you to take an oath to work there and spoke against being a Christian in their policy guide book. They continued to talk about Culture like you are joining some type of satanic club. They set up tests your first day to see how you are going to react to going to lunch on the first day with the team. It's like they are looking for a reason your first day to see if you are a fit. One of the strangest things I have ever experienced in my life on a job. The turnover is very high and they don't really have very many tenured employees. I would not recommend Games Workshop to my enemy. They have you to read this black book and you have to agree to everything about the book. I was told several times that how good of worker I am does not matter, its about their culture. I could not believe that a company in 2018 existed like this. I felt it was like selling your soul for a job. I quit.

    Rat an das Management

Stop playing with peoples lives and during the interview process go over your black book. Truly explain what seems like a satanic work culture on the front end.
