    Pros

    Casual dress, unlimited PTO, plenty of WFH flexibility. Good people. If you came in now, you’d have a fine experience, you just wouldn’t know what you were missing.

    It’s just not as exciting as it used to be. It’s no longer physician led and it’s de-emphasized sophisticated care management programs. More TPA focused now. It’s a company with a bold mission that’s lost its energy. Separating into distinct business units stifles energy for the company as a whole.

    Pros

    This is the most flexible, transparent, and kind organization I’ve ever worked for. Unlimited PTO and the ability to work from home enable me to balance life outside of the office - that’s insane and so appreciated! Transparency within the organization is also like none that I’ve ever experienced. Leaders take feedback from employees seriously and take action where they can. I’m optimistic about the future of... the company and trust that we’re doing what we can to follow through on commitments to employees.

    Telecommute, pay, 'unlimited PTO,' tech-savvy company that promotes a good value to the healthcare industry.

    Unfortunately.... the idea of value-based care is simply that - an idea. Workload fluctuation and job expectations constantly change, and have consistently shifted to focus on QUANTITY over QUALITY; disappointing. Ongoing (quarterly) layoffs provide no sense of job security, regardless of tenure or performance. Poor management (or micromanagement)/communication. Morale continues to decline.

    LISTEN to your employees and stop making empty reassurances about job security, especially if you're going to lay them off anyway. Take a good, hard look at some of the people you've put into management positions; unqualified individuals (that either barely understand the job, don't know the processes, or simply can't type a legible or coherent email) continue to be promoted from within, or kept through layoffs over... and over again.

    Approachable upper management Working hours flexibility if possible Good Infrastructure and location Availability to all available resources needed to get the work done. Access to whatever is needed to get the work done Great set of employees Good quality of work

    Lower management trying to create gaps in between employees and higher management in order to create a false image and self benefit especially in HPS IT Ops.

    Arrange more skip levels and keep employees engaged since it will avoid the communication gap created by lower management. Don't trust everything the managers state, they have their own version of story each time. Instead reach out to employees directly and make them feel comfortable to talk freely about issues.

    Pros

    Before the layoffs and the mass exodus of people who voluntarily left over the past year the main reason to work for Evolent was the people. They had some of the most dedicated, creative, brightest people in healthcare working for them but most are gone now. I guess now the main pros are the competitive pay, good benefits, unlimited PTO, and decent travel policy.

    Evolent is better at producing PowerPoint slides showing how an application would look or work than building actual applications. They are also better at showing wildly exaggerated graphs than producing real results. You will be expected to use these slides to show your clients that everything is great so they don't see that Evolent has turned their market into a flaming dumpster fire. Evolent has been running... a diversity campaign for several years and it is primarily for show. There are no black people on the Evolent leadership team. The women in senior leadership are in token roles like "Chief Accounting Officer" or "Chief Customer Officer". Most organizations now recognize that women in leadership often get labeled with negative attribute words while men are labeled with positive ones for the same behavior, bossy vs leader. Evolent still buys into the idea that attribute based feedback, primarily from the male senior leaders, should determine whether you are promoted or get your bonuses. It isn't shocking that people are leaving to go to companies where the glass ceiling isn't made of tempered glass.

    Rat an das Management

    Stop investing in and cut loose the parts of the business that aren't working and aren't part of the mission. Sunk cost cannot be recovered. You founded this company to use population health technology to change healthcare delivery. Instead of innovating in population health it's "all hands on deck" trying to make the rusty broken down health plan services technology work. Invest in promoting and hiring... qualified and talented people who believe in the mission of the company. You've gone from hiring candidates from top schools to having statewide presidents who graduated from the university of phoenix. Are you really surprised that you aren't getting good results?
