    Pros

99% of your co workers are good people. The other 1% are the snitches n suck ups who get promoted.

    Kontras

If you were in the military stay away. There's way better choices than this dumpster fire. There is no chance to be promoted unless you are a chosen one favorite who sucks up. All the train staff does is show you YouTube clips n power points. Despite the two HR ladies who were trying to stay away from saying they were HR, this in the words of the State labor board "most unethical and corrupt company in Texas" . ... The very next day announced the next supervisor who had no degree or military experience was announced. It was difficult hearing these HR reps tell us how much ethics means to them after all the ethic ethics violations. For example one lady was just promoted the analyst which is over her husband's supervisor n AM. You will know who he is he brags openly about his wife being his supervisors boss. This isn't the only ethics violation one of the assistant managers hired his brother in law n gives him great reviews for not doing much. The company will say feel free to go to HR but again they are in on it and you will soon find yourself looking for a job. Still not convinced you shouldn't take your military experience here, one of the supervisors has a dishonorable discharge.

Well the new manager and AVP seem like they are just collecting a nice paycheck. Let the assistant managers run things that's what got the last 4 people in your position fired.

Ich habe für mehr als 5 Jahre bei DFW International Airport gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Excellent benefits package. Really nice employee wellness center.

    Kontras

Ridiculously bad management. Treated like a slave in the 1800s. Low yearly raise. Many depressed and/or angry fellow workers. Expected to go above and beyond for low yearly compensation. Retirement is package is not as good as many similar organizations. Highly difficult to promote. Severe inequality between management and lower level employees. Since leaving I have never had such a weight lifted off me.... It was eye opening after leaving what an abusive workplace this truly was. My heart goes out to many great people still working there and the many reviews accurately drpict working for DFW. Sometimes you don't realize how bad something is until leaving it behind, now I get treated excellent, have equal benefits, better pay, bigger raises, and a better retirement.

Lots of work, busy place. Many of the younger crowd have issues with hard work. I love mentoring those that want it

    Kontras

New retirement package allows for portability. New employees check out after few years with the only loyalty to the resume. Also many believe 2 years is the total time needed to have all the knowledge needed.

    Pros

Large airport with many job functions to keep one busy. Many training opportunities, as well as opportunities to learn new skills and standard operating procedures. Nice equipment that is well maintained.

    Kontras

As much as the Airport tries to engage employees it is counterproductive with the treatment of employees. This poor treatment creates many employeess with negative attitude. Also the few that promote are quite often the worse choice which further degrades attitudes. Mandatory rotating shift is exhausting and difficult to have any quality of personal life, bidding would at least be more of a stable option in which... defined work hours would be in effect so that you can plan life around. Lack of promoting and or moving to different departments is also a major issue at DFW. Lots of politics, wasteful spending (rest assured not on employees). Raises have been below or at 3% for 20 years, except for the executives who receive much more.

    Pros

Great fellow workers to enjoy, very knowledgeable and good sense of humor.

    Kontras

Treated like crap from management, DFW likes to woo readers and employees with their trivial effort such as a constant barrage of surveys for employeees, which never help the work environment like they claim. People in my department are quitting all the time, a long tenured employee consist of 2 years. Management is horrible, employees are simply numbers and have little to no value. Retirement is not that good... when compared to similar organizations. Lots of dissention in the group. Departments dont cross function well, mainly due to poor attitudes from being mistreated. It's ok though your proactive and employee advocate in hr is diligently working on improvement, which they have said for a decade. Use caution when applying here, granted there are some good departments, although very few. So much turnover says it all, not to mention other reviews.

Ich habe für mehr als 10 Jahre bei DFW International Airport gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Better than average starting pay. Good vacation benefits.

    Kontras

I retired from the Airport Security Division in August 2016 with some of the worst supervisors and managers I ever saw in my 45 years of working. Even now the most current reviews reflect the same conclusions, am I the only one that can see that. Take the time to read back through the reviews and open your eyes. Nothing has changed, the firing of bad mangers and supervisors only to hire people just like them. ... You have people that have never been trained in evaluating people, but they are writing personnel evaluations that are based on personal feelings instead of job performance. Supervisors that make job assignments and other decisions based on whether they like you or not. The “good ole boy” network is alive and well still. Just why do you think so many employees are leaving ASD every year, it’s not because the benefits are bad. After a while of poor treatment from management nothing matters except a better working environment, not the money, not a work schedule or the number of days you get for vacation. I’ve been in aviation and around airports most of my life and I enjoyed the job at DFW Airport. It was very self satisfing, providing security, helping people around the airport and just being among good people, but I was lucky and got out just as I was able to receive full retirement and social security.

    Rat an das Management

After this many years of problems in ASD it just needs to be redesigned from the ground up or turn all the responsibilities back over to the police like it was years ago before the division was formed. If senior executives don’t wake up and recognize the problem it’s will be pervasive throughout the airport, if it’s not already.
