    Pros

    Credit Suisse has a business casual, laid back atmosphere. A lot of the people that work there have been employees for many years.

    Kontras

    Credit Suisse is notorious for taking care of the big players and ignoring everyone else. Unlike most investment banks, CS only pays half time to non exempt employees (as opposed to time and a half). And bonus for operations and middle office staff are below average.

    Most employees at the bank work pretty long hours on a daily basis and yet year in and year out, are not taken care of at the end of the year. Either hire more people to control the workflow or fully compensate the people doing the work.

    Pros

    Opportunity to move between positions, great entry level job, learning opportunities. CS is a good place for anyone to get their feet wet in IB.

    The hours are awful, but that's expected. I had great managers but the higher level management is awful. Little room for advancement.

    Please learn to recognize talent. The turnover rate is so high due to the fact that there is little to no freedom on behalf of managers.

    Pros

    Practically None. Unless you are homeless or starving and are desperate for a paycheck, please avoid this company. It offers nothing but grief.

    Management takes a very combative stance towards it employees. Managers often yell and snap at subordinates with no consequences as HR rubber stamps everything that they do. Further they are also able to pass the blame to their subordinates for anything that goes wrong and there is no opportunity for workers to refute their claims as HR just turns a blind eye. Also, no one really seems to know whats going on as... there is a fair amount of turnover and restructuring and the information systems are a mess as management cuts corners with everything.

    Listen to your employees. They are on the front line and know what needs improving. Provide more opportunities for training. Be willing to consider suggestions that are out of the box. Finally, hold managers accountable, there should be at least some minimum standards of conduct and employees should have channels to report inappropriate behavior.

    Excellent philanthropic program as well as lots of networks and societies to join. Majority of staff are very welcoming and friendly.

    Kontras

    Lots of politics and some management are very unfriendly, they will not even acknowledge you unless you have a title which is very frustrating. Promotions are scarce and you have to play the game. Working hours can be long and there is still a stigma if you leave before 6. Pay rises and bonuses are seldom seen.

    Pros

    Good work life balance as long as manager agreed. But, everyone I know they are working like a dog.

    Kontras

    Low pay! no matter how hard you work, management won't increase the salary. They always give false hope that things will be better next year, but that's not. Plus, they always ship jobs to outside vendors, there is no guarantee of job anyway.
