    If you are looking to grow, looking to learn, looking to fail and learn, looking to be inspired and looking to work with the smartest minds in the world- Conductor is your home.

    You will likely learn more at Conductor than any other place and often take you out of your comfort zone. Conductor is a fast-paced environment encouraging it's employees to achieve the impossible. In that environment, change is inevitable. Being adaptable to change and learning fast from failures is necessary to be successful. This may not be right for everyone.

    Extremely happy with the management team at Conductor. Please keep being transparent around company goals and initiatives. It feels as if all of Conductor is working as a team towards a common goal which is great.

    Pros

    A lot of great people trying to get things done.

    Solid CI process that seems to work well.

    I waited a while to write this review because I did not want to say something in the heat of the moment.

    The engineering department lacks direction and structure. The CTO is very nice but is too focused on the business side of things and not enough on the technical side. A strong VP of Engineering could alleviate that problem but there wasn't one and still isn't as far as I know. There are no architects either so every development team kind of does what they want and figuring out the right way to do something depends on finding someone with a strong opinion. As a result, microservices don't seem to follow any conventions. There is a DevOps team that seems to operate independently of development which doesn't make any sense.

    There is a legacy monolith that runs on an antique version of Java that I thankfully did not have to deal with.

    The office itself is kind of run down and a large part of it is populated by sales folks who make so much noise that I often had trouble concentrating.

    There are regular "all hands" meetings that feel like their only purpose is so some of the senior leadership can hear themselves talk.

    The CEO is a nice enough guy who seems like he hasn't realized that Conductor has become a much larger company than when he started it. He will also just start talking to you while you're in the bathroom which is more than a little awkward.

    You need more leadership in engineering. Someone (or someones) to architect the application and someone who can coordinate the various development teams. When I left it felt like a bit of a free for all.

    Support Network - Everyone's willing to help, top to bottom.
    Work / Life Balance - There's an expectation to work hard, but there's also an expectation to recharge.
    (Occasional) Failure is Okay - We all make mistakes, but the expectation is to learn from them.

    As Conductor continues to grow, there are more names to learn, more things to juggle, and various change throughout. Change can be stressful, but it's usually an indication that things are going well.

    Conductor is super transparent with us. There is is lot of room to grow. Conductor cares about it's employees. Leadershiio is always available and listens to employees and makes changes.

    Pros

    The people: Everyone has a team first mentality and will go out of their way to make sure you are in a position to succeed. It is also great that the "People First" culture means that the company is as invested in its employees as it is in its clients.
    The leadership: All levels of leadership do a great job of embracing "servant leadership" and it shows in their no-holds-barred transparency around anything. Regular "ask us anything" sessions with Team CEO gives everyone a direct line to be heard at any given time. Even the middle managers are some of the most driven and compassionate people I've met.
    The Opportunity: with the acquisition by WeWork, Conductor is in a great position to pursue anything they want. Teams with the motivation to try something new are empowered and encouraged to pursue them.

    Paradox of choice: the way forward is so wide open and so many opportunities present themselves that making concrete decisions and following through as an organization seems difficult at times.
    Startup drawbacks: though likely no longer considered a start-up, there are still challenges with close, inter-department collaboration as a result of the mindset that carried over from the start-up days.

    With recent additions to leadership and the resources in place, I'm confident that we are in a great position to succeed. Please don't lose sight of the fact that complacency can set in fast, and also remember that some of the most meaningful changes can come by improving existing features instead of creating new ones.
