    Pros

    Great pay, great coworkers, flexible hours. Very Ideal for university students as the employees are typically young.

    Not many. They are very accommodating for location and hours.

    Pros

    - Compensation is decent
    - Friendly work environment amongst peers
    - Work/life balance is not an issue

    Kontras

    Specific to Supply Management:

    - Weak leadership team (from Director down to the Leads) that has no strategic or long-term plan for the department, and relies on the "command and control" style to micromanage and bully employees
    - Low morale with four years of declining employee survey results that are well below The City's corporate average
    - Zero growth and development opportunities
    - Heavily unionized environment that has minimal, if any, flexibility (e.g. same/set working hours for everyone, no teleworking)
    - most of the procurement practices are outdated

    With respect to The City as a whole:
    - Business units still operate in silos, which is often quite wasteful and inefficient

    None. One of the biggest known criticisms is that Supply Management's leadership team does not listen to anyone except themselves. This probably won't change anytime soon

    Pros

    The city is generally a very good employer in all aspects, except for a few specific divisions and groups. Some teams, such as procurement are much worse to work for than other areas of the city.

    Kontras

    Morale is quite low in procurement because Supply Management's leadership team treats people like cattle and could not care any less about its staff. Very inexperienced "leaders" that micromanage everything and are "leaders" in title only.

    Pros

    In Communications, there is a fair amount of variety, interesting projects, and you can build relationships with other managers outside of communications. Sometimes you get put on high-profile projects and you can grow your skills. Many campaigns are well established and there is room for creativity.

    Kontras

    Had the same director for 20 years who was racist and sexist (once wore a trump hat in an all staff video). She was allowed to "retire" very suddenly when her massive re-org failed. She was unhinged. She left behind a bunch of insecure managers who intimidate staff, use favoritism with promotions, and implement slow and nonsensical workflows. They continued with the re-org and made work processes 10x harder. Many sexist attitudes prevail at the leader level and women's careers are capped.

    Hold bad mangers accountable when they implement terrible re-orgs which destroy the culture and ruin people's jobs. If it wasn't for the downturn, everyone would have quit.

    Reasonable salary and benefits. Knowledgeable co-workers.

    Kontras

    Understaffed in front-line positions while continuing to create layers of senior management.
    Micromanagement of field staff.
    Management who are oblivious to the realities of front-line workers.

    You have extremely knowledgeable Frontline staff who do not need to be micro managed as they have been over the past few years. Stress and employee dissatisfaction is an issue that management chooses to ignore. The "tools" we have been told to use when dealing with excessive workloads have created more issues than they have solved. We are understaffed for much of the year and the removal of on-call positions has made made things worse.
