Low salary in comparison with other companies in Ottawa; Hard to get promoted with hard work, but show off works totally fine; Most managers don't think and care about their employees and only think about their own growth

    Pros

    Good company to work with after a couple of years of your start of career. Will have more development opportunities depending on your team and the work they contribute for the company. Has good work-life balance, it's flexible in this aspect. Good health insurance options and 401K match.

    Kontras

    No clarity on bonus and promotions, will take few years for them and minimal hike in salary. Managers have absolute control of your career, HR is non-existent. Compensation is still below industry standards. Lots of Politics inside the teams, frustrating for employees as they don't get chance to work on where their interest lies. Lay-offs keep happening twice a year.

    Appreciate your employees and reward them aptly. Increase the Salaries to Industry Standard. Make Hike/Promotion pointers to be very clear so that employees can follow them and be successful to aim for their hike/promotion.

    - Good resources available for the curious - Challenging environment and growth* opportunities - Transparency to technical information - Benefits (Car Lease, Healthcare Insurance, Medical check-ups etc) - Other department exposure - Good workplace environment - Work from home - Great food

    At Company level - Big variation in salaries for same grade - No transparent appraisal/promotion process - No proper feedback loop from engineers to skip-level managers - HR department is a joke - Pay less than market median - Frequent Layoff/Workforce reduction, Engineers pay for the miscalculation of VPs and Directors - G8 and G10 are eligible for RSU component in their pay, but rarely get it. At... Personal level - Career growth *entirely* depends on the manager you report to. - All concern/feedback stop with your reporting manager. No clear path for escalation - How we get raise in salary or job grade is opaque and often just the opinion of our manager - HR redirects all queries back to manager - Politics and growth is controlled/supported by directors/mangers - People within the team often gang-up and create silos to keep their product and job safe.
