    CH2M leadership was focused on large/risky projects and selling firm to sell their shares. I left as this was happening. Now merger with Jacobs is complete.

      Can work on good projects and most people are really good to work with.

      Your success (and raise, promotion, etc) is 100% dependent on who in management likes you and is not related to your performance on the job or how good a job you do or what kind of client ratings you get.

      I hope management actually reads this. It is meant in a constructive manner not a critical manner. You have way too many middle & upper middle people (managers and "special" positions) that do not contribute to the bottom line. They talk a good story but do not actually produce or contribute to results. They hinder more than anything else because they are too self serving. Hopefully you will see through the BS one...

      Junior staff have many opportunities to work on a diverse portfolio of projects. Good series of client contracts. Co-workers are, in total, smart, fun and ethical.

      Senior technical talent thinking of coming on board should run away and run away fast. Unsupported unless you are in a very small select group, management has given up on true innovation (despite what they claim), funding for conferences is minimal and focus is on next month not on long term growth. In addition, senior technical staff are expected to be highly billable, even when they had been given OH roles. Management...

      Instead of quoting the "Little Yellow Book" written by one of our amazing founders, you should actually try to live by its philosophy. Stop making people take vacation for drop in workload, even when they have been billing client overtime in previous weeks.       You get to work with people that care about providing high quality service on interesting projects that make a difference in our communities. Ethical, you can be proud to say you work there.

      The people managers at the office (group) level are not given sufficient time in their schedule to do a great job managing people. That stifles growth of employees and success of the company.

      Employee Ownership. Decent benefits; PTO, 401k, medical. That's about it anymore.

      Kontras

      Lack of leadership and vision at highest levels if management. Distancing from founders principles "little yellow book". No regard for people, no planning for development, all newly appointed leaders from outside. Have not had vision since Ralph departed. Very sad developments.

      Develop long term vision and communicate. Leaders need to communicate with staff and develop future leaders and give them opportunities. Just ask yourself what Would Ralph Do?

      Pros

      CH2M gives you you all the tools for the Construction Project Manager trade. Have excellent project support people state-side - I worked for them overseas, so it was particularly important for my projects and me. They also take good care of their employees with top notch salary and benefit package.

      Kontras

      CH2M is the "800 pounds gorilla" and have many offices, so sometimes one has got to do a lot of leg-work to find the right decision-making group. They can seem a little cold and impersonal - not for me, but I known others receiving it a little worse.
