    Pros

    I’m not sure what I’ll be able to come up with on cons... It truly has been a remarkable company that I’m very proud to be a part of. The managers very much have respect for you and allow you to handle your territory as you see fit.

    The incentives with commission are very desirable which allows you some competition and a way to make additional income.

    The overall culture of CARFAX is by far the most impressive I’ve witnessed. They truly take “no jerks allowed” seriously.

    Can’t recommend this company enough and I find it to be an honor to be a part of it!

    Territories can grow to be a bit large making it difficult to service. They do restructure to lower amount of dealers.

    Generous time off, decent health benefits, great products, fun meetings and contests

    Kontras

    Disconnected between field and internal managers who haven't sold to dealerships in years. Closed minded mentality to adapting products and performance measurements outdated. Constant monitoring of activities - drive time, idle time, computer clicks. Very high turnover in the field. Salaries low for similar job at other auto companies.

    Pros

    Everyone from HR to the Senior Team to the myCarfax team CARES!
    Plenty of paid time off.
    Health Insurance is top notch (Coming from the Federal Government/Tricare).
    Pay is generous.
    Bonuses are even more generous.
    The WHOLE Carfax team works so well together because we all care about each other's success.
    I have never felt so appreciated in any other job.
    Team events/activities are awesome!
    We love pets! Most dog breeds allowed!

    Inclement weather procedures align with the Fairfax County Government. Unless you have a job where you can work from home, one must use paid time off if they cannot make it to work.
    The Fairfax County Government NEVER closes or delays despite dangerous road conditions.

    Pros

    Continuous effort to be innovative, improve, and deliver great products. The culture is great, bringing dogs to work is always fun, and the dress code is super casual (Jeans, t-shirt, sneakers).

    Kontras

    The level of effort to make changes can be a lot as systems are built on top of each other than patched, then modified, then built on top of another etc...the dependancies and lack of thorough documentation can make things challenging.

    Pros

    - Nice people to work with

    Kontras

    - Significantly underpay employees compared to industry average

    - Recently switched to cheaper benefits provider

    - Employees who take on more responsibility or skill up, are not compensated for doing so

    - Only way to convince management that you're worthy of a compensation increase is to threaten to leave - then they will promote you and give you a raise

    - Recently started decreasing bonus payouts to employees, in lieu of awarding stock options which take a year to vest. Bonus monies used to be available after being rewarded. Now employees get less, and have to wait a year for a portion of it.

    - Lots of mandatory surveys / marketing to make the company look like it's a great place to work, when in reality it isn't much better than your average marketing company

    - Survey meetings produce promises from management about addressing issues, but in reality nothing ever happens

    - Flat org structure, not much room for career advancement

    - Work life balance that is promised, doesn't really exist. Required to be in office daily, and telecommuting has to be warranted / is increasingly scrutinized

    - Noisy and distracting open office

    - Limited individual growth opportunities outside of what is important to Carfax

    - Very little transparency, even though company includes it in culture statement. Employees get very little, if any, feedback on ideas and suggestions

    - Playbook is a sham - company does not live up to the values they enforce

    - If you don't act like Carfax is the best place to work, ever, you're not a "team player". There are so many marketing gimmicks at play at Carfax to make it seem like "the best place to be"

    - Feedback from newer employees wearing rosy colored glasses, and feedback from lifers who have become favorites or are planning on retiring, is more valued / not ignored

    - Rampant favoritism. Employees are rewarded randomly with perks like remote work or getting to work on their own project, etc... No explanation as to why they get to vs anyone else is ever given.

    - Compensate employees fairly
    - Reward employees who skill up / have experience and tenure
    - Offer growth opportunities important to individuals, not important to Carfax
    - Change org structure to not be flat
    - Increase telecommuting options, and limit core office hours
    - Get rid of open office and go back to cubicles; open offices are proven (based on studies) to be distracting, noisy, as well as counter to increased collaboration
    - More transparency
