Go ahead with the planned changes and improvements but then lets have some stability

    Pros

Pay is good for a not for profit.

    Kontras

A stable place is in bizarre war with itself in past 6 months or so. Sniping from colleagues who I used to consider friends now seems to be the norm here.

    Rat an das Management

Whatever you are doing lately, just stop. You are making this an horrible place to work :(

    Pros

Fantastic supporting work for charities by volunteer staff

    Kontras

Cannot really find words to describe what an awful place this has become to work in last six months

    Rat an das Management

Please please find someone to lead the necessary change without encouraging
, causing or tolerating the toxic bullying

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei British Medical Association (Über 5 Jahre)

    Pros

Really enjoy interacting with our members, and most staff

    Kontras

We have some clearly defined organisational values, including cooperation, collaboration, not belittling others, being dismissive / patronising etc. For many years the association has enjoyed leadership that embraced these values. Not any more. It seems to be only getting "fresh blood“ (ie new paying members) at any cost matters. The tone at the top is just plain nasty.

    Rat an das Management

    Respect our values.

    Pros

    Great Management who support you
    Great people to work with
    Canteen has a discount
    Staff are friendly

    Kontras

People who have no understanding of what your job entails or you do are trying to tell you on ways you can do it better or improve.
Rather than looking at things can be improved they are too busy pointing out all the negatives.
Leadership team makes you feel like you are not worth talking to and you are the help.
    No investment in staff.
    Lack of training or opportunities

    Rat an das Management

Rather than constructive criticism, or understanding the full duties involved in a role maybe the leadership should sit and observe what a department deals with on a day to day basis rather than go on vague assumptions or hear say.
Have a better understanding of all the work people do and achieve on a day to day basis then see how to improve things rather than suggesting improvements without knowing what the problem is.
Try offering motivation and training, in all the time i have been there the only training offered is in house. Why not invest in your staff so they can do their job better and then offer more value to customers.

    Pros

Some great hard grafting friends throughout the organisation, but they all seem to be struggling.

    Kontras

Not sure what the politics are, but they've resulted in appointing a temporary chiefexec who seems to be here to demotivate people in to leaving. Sad thing is it seems to be working.

    Rat an das Management

I care about members, but am struggling with the current awful new culture and atmosphere.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei British Medical Association

    Pros

Some generally caring compassionate staff who want to do the very best for members and their employer

    Kontras

I understand how change is necessary and a positive thing. Unfortunately, the top of this place now seems to be a sledgehammer content only with destroying the good along with the bad. Arrogance that refuses to listen or engage with the many great staff who just want to do their best. Sadly this has seen some great, honest, decent people decide their only option was to give up.

    Rat an das Management

Wake up and realise how you are destroying the morale of the people you want to help you change. We need inspiration, not belittling and being ignored. Unfortunately my view will most likely be ignored here like in the workplace

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei British Medical Association

    Pros

Flexible working is possible and there is a lovely cafe garden and gym

    Kontras

The association has always had primary focus on looking after its members, but last few months that focus seems to have been lost.

    Rat an das Management

Stop talking at your colleagues and start listening to what they have got to say. Some basic respect for people is needed and an understanding that you are not an expert in everything. Without collaboration and mutual respect this association will go downhill very rapidly

    Pros

Super convenient location for HQ, and I can regularly work from home.

    Kontras

Typically a chief executive has excellent communication skills - It's a pre requisite for the role. But communication is a two way process! The current interim has a really good strategy: increase our membership. They are also excellent at speaking TO people and broadcasting their message. They are excellent at communicating the overall vision and telling people down to the tiniest level of detail how it should be done. Unfortunately they don't seem interested in listening to those people in return, and letting them share their own skills, experience and wisdom in achieving the common goal. They also seem prone to making decisions with far reaching consequences without taking time to consult or obtaining the detail they need to make the best decision.

This has made the BMA an impossibly frustrating place to work these past few months and I, like many others are very close to giving up on it.

    Rat an das Management

Respectfully listen to your co-workers who share your vision and want to be a part of delivering it. They know how to do their jobs, and need support and guidance not micromanagement. Take more time when making decisions, the consequences of recent snap judgements are starting to show. Try walking a mile in others shoes before negatively criticising their work.
