Ich habe für weniger als ein Jahr bei Brainlabs gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Free Lunch, the DOG, some absolutely lovely individuals

    Kontras

Severely low pay, extremely cliquey, hypocrisy in the work e.g. we were told 'we don't do marketing for gambling companies' - yet they do

    Rat an das Management

In my time at Brainlabs I met some truly wonderful people and some not very pleasant and rather childish individuals, so I would not want to taint anyone with the same brush in terms of employees it varies. HR seem very inexperienced and making it up as they go along- they do take things on board but everything is very secretive and conducted in a fairly amateur manner and it doesn't seem like its the same rules for...

Ich arbeite seit mehr als 3 Jahren bei Brainlabs (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Great culture - huge emphasis on having perks to suit everyone and collaborative approach to all work Incredibly smart people are here - making work stimulating and you truly 'learn everyday' Challenges enabling us to thrive - with a fast growing company we have a lot of challenges/opportunities keeping us on our toes Supportive management - available and experienced.

    Kontras

Need to show initiative and be flexible due to nature of industry and growth of Brainlabs. Doesn't suit everyone.

Carry on being transparent and enthusiastic about the future of the company - you've made it a really exciting place to come everyday!

    Ich arbeite bei Brainlabs (Vollzeit)

    Pros

The people are some of the most intelligent, friendly and competent I've met. In every other organisation in which I've worked, I've met plenty of people incapable of sufficiently carrying out even the basic of their responsibilities. I'm yet to meet a single person at Brainlabs who doesn't fulfil these requirements. The vast majority go well beyond that. In addition, I've found the value of collaboration not just to...

    Kontras

The salary is not inline with the difficultly of the job and the abilities of employees. People are frequently offered jobs with twice the salary (many turn it down). This is somewhat by design, the company does require employees to stay for significant periods of time and there are large number of people in junior management who would happily take more senior roles if people were to leave. In any case, retention doesn't...

Ich habe für mehr als ein Jahr bei Brainlabs gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

    - Amazingly smart, friendly and competent people - Free food and exercise classes - Good exposure early on and responsibility (can sometimes be a bad thing, though) - HR are approachable - Good culture of feedback and reviewing progress.

    Kontras

During my time there, I gradually witnessed a large number of management leave, with no one replacing them. Instead, others were left to fill the void, often without training. AMs are pushed into AD positions when they are not yet qualified or experienced enough, leading to chaotic/non-existent management (hardly surprising). While the salaries might be market-rate (as they claim), they in no way represent the...

    Pros

Learn by doing - you get opportunities & responsibility early (no 2 year grad scheme). There's enough new things to do that it doesn't get boring. Great co-workers, helpfulness/collaboration is a genuine part of the culture and you can rely on others for support. There are real friendships at work Great people to learn from - people really know their platforms, the tiny details and how to get the most out of them....

    Kontras

Learn by doing - people will get pushed out of their comfort zone (so you need to be up for it!) Work is dependent on clients, last minute requests, busy periods, holidays can cause pressure on client teams.

Keep making an effort to talk to wider groups of people and understand priorities

Ich arbeite seit mehr als einem Jahr bei Brainlabs (Vollzeit)

      Pros

      - Perks - A large reason many employees still work here is the perks. There is definitely space to improve (such as health insurance), but having breakfast and lunch provided, exercise classes, a gym subsidy etc. does make work life more enjoyable. - People - Brainlabs does a great job in hiring amazing people. They are some of the cleverest people I have been around, and many have gone to top universities...

      Kontras

Brainlabs states on the very first page of their treasured handbook that one of their only two missions is to ‘create the best company to work for in the whole world.’ Unfortunately, this seems to only get further and further from the truth as time goes on. I feel like management have lost sight of what makes (or should I say made) the company great. I won’t repeat everything that recent reviews have clearly stated,...

      Rat an das Management

If you really want to 'be the best company to work for in the whole world', pay a fair, better salary and people will be happier. Have continuous training for all employees, monitor workloads (not just through the workload capacity sheet), and improve the perks. If you want to continue hiring and retaining amazing people, things have to change, otherwise people will realise its not all what you claim.

      Pros

The people. I've made some friends for life here and it was worth joining the company just to meet them. I don't agree with the review below about "nasty" people and whatsapps, but maybe I'm just out the loop. The food. This a great perk, as the free lunch and breakfast really help to keep the expenses down. It is starting to feel like the company is starting to outgrow this perk, i.e. long lunch lines, food running...

The progression. You'll progress so much in your first year and a half and then it's plateau all of the way from there. It would be great if the company could address the progression after AD/GAD (other than moving to strategy...) How are you expecting to keep bright individuals without showing them a future at the company? Prior to reaching the inevitable plateau, during your first year and a half, you'll be pushed...

You've lost sight of your initial vision that made Brainlabs so great - it's now a company with okay-ish perks, progression and staff happiness (whilst paying below the average for this industry). This is hardly hitting the aim of being the best place to work. Go back to what you know, keep the employees happy (even if this is at a larger scale), as they are your most valuable assets.

      Kontras

      - Elitism/Lack of diversity: Whilst Brainlabs has been hiring outside of Oxbridge for a many years, an elitist culture has manifested from our reputation as an Oxbridge dominant company amongst a large group of Brainlabers. As an Oxbridge graduate myself, this mindset is quite appalling when I come across it - a degree from Oxbridge does not ensure kindness, genuine or goodness and whilst I agree there is a growing negative,...

      1. Continue to hire outside of (as well as from) Oxbridge to create and promote a more diverse and balanced work force 2. Take on experienced hires - Taking on experienced, knowledgable staff members may help with the gossip and elitism cultures which seem to be growing and relieve some of the current inexperienced managers 3. Provide managerial training BEFORE or directly after promoting someone into a managerial...

        Pros

        - People The people at Brainlabs are undoubtedly the best part of the company. Overall, they are remarkably capable, conscientious and friendly, and I believe a lots of people wouldn’t still be working there if it wasn’t for their colleagues. I really admire them. - Culture Linking to that, the culture at Brainlabs in on the whole really friendly, and there is an emphasis on growth. In my experience, the internal...

        Kontras

        - Capacity This is a long-standing issue at the company for client facing teams, and stems from a focus on profitability. Entire teams can be over capacity, but it can also vary within teams. For example, some account managers will be working on large but relatively unprofitable clients, and will never be given the support they need as it isn’t viable from a fee point of view. As noted elsewhere on this page, this...

        Rat an das Management

Brainlabs is great is lots of ways, but you need to follow through with regard to making changes off the back of what your employees are saying. There’s a huge and consistent capacity problem in client facing teams that isn’t going to be solved with focus groups. There needs to be less work per person, experienced hires and less churn at a senior level (frankly, this could be achieved with people being paid a bit more).
