Great training for new employees, benefits are great, and once within the company there are opportunities to move to other groups and positions within the company

    Kontras

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Boeing (Über 10 Jahre)

    Pros

    1. LAID OFF - If you are a good employee you will always be busy. During layoff, Boeing will give you 60 day’s notice for you to find a job before they led you go. In fact, HR would help you find an internal job within the company. You would get immediate termination if you violate rules and policies.

    2. RETIREMENT - Boeing pays 75% of your first 8% in addition they have a VIP (Voluntary Investment Plan) where they contrive and extra 3%-5% on monthly basis. They no longer have pension.

    3. SCHOOL TUITION - Boeing would up to 2 Associate degrees, 2 Bachelor’s degrees, 2 Masters degrees, 2 PhDs or Doctorate degrees. You have an annual limit of 25,000.

    4. VACATION - You will accumulate based on the years of service. If you are 0..5 years is like 1.6 hours per week. If you are 6...10 years is like 2.4 hours per week. If you are 10 ... 15 years is 2.6 hours per week.

    5. SICK TIME - You would get 80 hours in a calendar year. If you use it you can roll-out your (Remaining Hours / 2)

    6. HOLIDAYS - You would get 90 hours in a calendar year.

    7. OTHER - They provide assistance with adoption, gender reassignment, weight lost, legal advice, finance classes, corporate credit card, flying lessons (written only),

    Kontras

    1. PROMOTION - Only when you self-promote. You have to move to another team or another state. Less than 1% gets promoted.

    2. MANAGEMENT - They will always say there is no budget for promotion. They will grade you low in your performance to push you to your max. If you like to be criticized for your good work in a bad way, then you should be fine.

    3. CULTURE - They say One Boeing! Unfortunately, it is not true. Each organization has its own process and culture. If you don't fit due to race, accent, or school, you are not going anywhere in the company (move and self-promote). Some team do not like to share their knowledge or their processes.

    4. AGGRESSIVENESS - I noticed that if you are a super smart person with a supper bad attitude and rudeness, you will not get fire. You can be mean, say bad words to your co-workers but if you are a key talent they will not let you go. I was debating to put this under Pros or Cons. Your personality will judge.

    Rat an das Management

Embrace new and young talent in management positions

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei Boeing gearbeitet (Über 8 Jahre)

    Pros

Boeing provides plenty of opportunities to learn about various subjects pertinent to your degree and background as well as subjects outside of your comfort zone. Plenty of resources and a large network of employees to learn from and also mentor. You may receive decent compensation relative to market and your peers when you first hire on. Stock price and stock fund is currently rocking! Boeing is rich enough now to hold the lions share of the commercial aerospace market which can be leveraged to dominate the defense business of the house.

    Kontras

Basically, Boeing is "government junior". Boeing is weighed down by bureaucracy and is way too process heavy. Because of the inefficient promotion processes, Boeing will not correct your pay when you are underpaid. You basically have to threaten to quit and show them you have other higher paying options for them to even consider a raise and promotion. It's guaranteed HR and management will throw the "market" or "business case" argument at you because their hands are tied to corporate processes. It gives them an excuse to not care about you in other words. Also, there are many employees there who hardly do any work and get to ride on the coat-tails of the hardworking people, inherently a consequence of poor processes for firing people or at least holding people accountable. If you're a believer in working hard with merit rewards, you might want to stay clear.

    Rat an das Management

You'll continue to train and develop entry level people who will just leave for greener pastures if you are unwilling to fix the promotion and compensation processes. When it's easier to hire off the street than it is to promote valued employees (or give them equity adjustments) from within, you have a problem.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Boeing (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

All the benefits of working for a large company with a ton of resources, things like: tuition assistance, great 401K matching, great benefits at little or no cost (depending on pay level). Also amazing work/life balance, rarely work more than 40 hours/week except in small sprints and you're paid overtime even on salary.

    Kontras

very minimal drawbacks, pay can be slightly less than competitive because overall compensation is spread through a large number of benefits but the value is still great.
