Decent place to work - with some exceptions
21. Feb. 2023 - Project Manager in New York, NYEmpfehlenPositive CEO-BewertungGeschäftsprognosePros
Benefits are really top notch - monthly food stipend, mental health and fertility services, cool swag, nice offices, etc. The product is obviously very cool and something I feel a lot of people are very passionate about. I've never worked at a company before where I've personally really cared about or enjoyed the product, so that is cool.
Kontras
Management is relatively a mess. Actual ownership is pretty non-existent across the board and priorities are constantly changing to the point I felt like it was pointless to even begin working on something because it would change again in a few weeks. It's definitely very clear who are the "favorites" and most of the favorites are social suck ups (sorry, don't know how to say that more tactfully). Additionally, I know Spotify is known for its WLB, but be weary as this is TOTALLY dependent on your role and org. I realize this is pretty true for most companies (not just Spotify) but one of the reasons I joined was for the advertisement of WLB. It was ironic because I have never become so burnt out in my entire career and as quickly as I have at Spotify. I'm not sure how career opportunities were back in the day, but career advancement did not even seem possible for me.

Your experience is what you make it
9. Apr. 2023 - WriterEmpfehlenPositive CEO-BewertungGeschäftsprognosePros
You get to work with many talented, smart, and thoughtful people. Occasionally you’ll get to jam on a cool project (but it most likely won’t make it to market). You will learn a lot if this is your first time at a tech company. This is a very autonomous style place which can be great if that’s your thing. The benefits are very good (6 months paternity/maternity leave) and the work from anywhere is great. Office culture is still a thing for those who choose to go in.
Kontras
Leadership can feel like they only care about pushing big flashy products instead of smaller, meaningful things our users would actually care about. It’s very clear writing is not held in high regard and other disciplines (like design) are more important. Writers must advocate for their work and insert themselves into projects for a seat at the table. If you crave excitement and innovation you are better off at a smaller company but if you like the anonymity of a larger company, don’t tie your identity to your career, and don’t mind being another cog in the wheel it’s not a bad place to work.
