    Pros

    It was once a great company in a great industry doing great things with a great purpose. There is still some of that left, but it's vanishing rapidly.

    The company actually seems to WANT people to leave. For example, it paid no bonuses for anyone n fiscal 2018, regardless of performance. So employees who are bonus-eligible are being told year after year that the guy next to you let you down, so we're (get this) going to punish YOU TOO! EVEN IF they had a massive sales increase! That Takes Balls Man! I think the owner actually wants people to leave rather than just wholesale laying people off, and this is one pillar in that strategy. The company is no longer viable. It's owned by Apollo Global Management, a private equity firm, which is normally 3-6 years and then flip it, like a house. But this is about year 10, and there's no sign of any interested buyers, meaning Apollo can't sell the company, and of course it can't do an IPO (would you buy stock in a horse and buggy maker that tried to brand itself as Tesla or Toyota?). What to do? The smart money is on a fire sale one day before too long, and that's chaos. All of this might have been prevented, but the established senior managers--horse ranchers all--refused to replace themselves with auto industry executives, naturally. Would you?

    Pros

    Good team environment, management very involved, people had good work ethics.

    Kontras

    Some times during the end of the publishing cycle, there were weeks with no time off.

    Pros

    As of recently, MH has embraced modern HR practices, flexibility, and benefits. In the midst of a pandemic, I feel good working here, even though layoffs are likely given the hits to the bottom line. 6% 401k matching is nice. Health benefits are okay.

    Kontras

    High achievers outside of sales are not consistently rewarded with compensation or new challenges. Many people are hired from competitors which limits innovation. Lots of light cronyism with poached hires. People are rarely held accountable for failed initiatives that promised (or forecasted) return on investment. In most cases, these people actually seem to be on the promotion fast track. Same goes for project/product managers who overpromise and underdeliver.
