    Pros

Work from home. If you're religious, some aspects of the culture may resonate with you.

    Kontras

If you're in IT and considering CHI, RUN. The most dysfunctional and stressful IT environment I've ever seen. No leadership from the top and few standards. Multiple failures at starting an Enterprise Architecture practice have left the organization with no technical direction. There is no accountability for people who violate the few standards that are in place. CHI is not a true operating company. The... organization is basically a confederation of hospital systems under the CHI name. Each market based system does what's in their own best interest with no regard for the health of the national organization. Massive redundancy in functions and applications across the organization. Market systems routinely purchase technology independent of IT. CHI cannot hold onto high performing talent as high performers are frustrated by inability to enact the needed changes that are painfully obvious. This is compounded by the fact that compensation is well below market rates. CHI routinely follows a cycle of layoffs to improve financial numbers, then hiring when they realize they're short staffed. Core IT functions have been outsourced to Indian companies such as Wipro and HCL. Their incompetence, combined with an environment that has no standards, results in daily outages and fire drills. 55+ hour work weeks are the norm for support staff. Clinical and operations staff have given up on IT providing true service. IT management does not have the knowledge or conviction to lead. This is reflected in the senior leadership levels through middle management. Leadership positions are revolving doors, and projects essential to CHI's success are abandoned before they have a chance to succeed. The organization has not had a dedicated CIO in over a year. CHI is the most political environment I have ever worked in. You are admonished not to use "violent" language such as "bullet points", and "target". Countless hours are wasted on starting every meeting with "reflections" where the meeting organizer virtue signals their piousness through a prayer or quote. Think 1984 newspeak. Political maneuvering is the preferred mechanism for advancement. The organization demonstrates hypocrisy when it comes to practicing organizational and Catholic core values. If you're not in Denver, advancement above low level manager/supervisor will be difficult. CHI is presently in the process of merging with Dignity Health and many aspects of the organization are in limbo awaiting completion of the past due merger.

    Pros

Great hospital in Grand Junction, was my favorite hospital I traveled RN at. Great staff and leadership, felt comfortable working in an excellent ICU.

    Kontras

No cons with the hospital, but the town of Grand Junction is a place where you settle down with a family, and somewhat deserted from big cities.
