Ich habe für mehr als 3 Jahre bei Ardent Mills gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Good health benefits, flexibility, casual dress, and good people in the Mills.

    Kontras

Vacation is above industry standard; however, the kicker is that you won't ever be able to take it! After working a crazy amount of hours per week for years, I'd finally had enough. Management is aware of the terrible work/life balance but they don't do anything about it. Staying lean as a company is more important than taking care of their employees. Burnout is a real thing at Ardent Mills! There are... employees that have been promoted to management beyond the level of their competence. Those employees also have managed to get ahead by sucking up but not actually performing at a high level...nepotism in certain departments is alive and well! Salary is no where near the Denver market standards, which has led a lot of employees that relocated for the company when it formed, to move back to Omaha and Minneapolis. Salary levels are based on overall market of the role, not the area you work in, which makes it difficult for them to find good talent in the Denver area.

I truly believe Dan Dye is sincere in his values and leadership; however, staying that lean as a company is not only hurting your employees but also will lead to Ardent Mills falling behind in the industry. You currently have employees who work 60 hours or more per week with no recognition or the slightest acknowledgement of the intense efforts to keep Ardent Mills running. Also, spend the money on new... technology! Stop trying to create home grown systems to save a buck! You want to be cutting edge in the milling industry yet refuse to keep up with technology!

Ich arbeite seit mehr als 5 Jahren bei Ardent Mills (Vollzeit)

    Pros

The cooperate culture is a gem that is hard to find in other food companies or a different industry. Values of safety and serve were ingrained to EE at day 1. It cares about its employees : you can find a lot of internal training program about emotional intelligence and leadership. Young professionals prefer internal promotion than leaving the company because of such awesome and engaging team environment and so many... learning opportunities.

    Kontras

The culture of the society is dramatically changing our diet and people become carbo or gluten-phobia. Innovative business case should be more studied. Need to be sensitive to the market needs and data-savvy. Old generation, even some senior leaders, may be more encouraged to learn new technologies and be open-minded. Brace for uncertainty.

Be more patient to your young team members

Ich arbeite seit mehr als 8 Jahren bei Ardent Mills (Vollzeit)

    Pros

Pay has increased to attract and keep team members.

    Kontras

Work too many days in a row and 12 hr. shifts, hard to please managers unless a favorite. Benefits keep getting decreased or taken away.

    Rat an das Management

I believe Dan Dye is sincere in his values. At a plant level, managers/supervisors need to practice your values of understanding, respect and care to all employees. Need to attend professional training.

Ich habe für mehr als 3 Jahre bei Ardent Mills gearbeitet (Vollzeit)

    Pros

-Good vacation -Decent pay -Lots of learning opportunities

    Kontras

-Little room for growth, managers either tell you where you're going next, or you have to have friends in the company who will support you applying for different jobs internally -The pace of progress is slow. New ideas are only welcomed by certain managers, and not embraced by senior leadership. Evidenced by the 12 person panel they have to approve new projects (can take up to 3 months just to get approval to role... out cost-less projects) -Egos get in the way of promotions/talent development/dept. progress, especially in finance

    Rat an das Management

Ardent is falling behind in a changing industry. Remove barriers to progress, like stringent approval panels & ego-centric leadership. Focus on developing talent in the company by supporting new ideas and enabling cross department employee movement. Let talent develop in the mills by reducing the rate of relocation. And most importantly, shake the mindset of "paying dues" for advancement, and instead focus on... candidates who are qualified.
