    Pros

    Great place to get "corporate experience", benefits package is not bad at all, most of your peers are the nicest people & you make fast friends.

    Kontras

    compensation is a joke, management is cliquey, HR is untrustworthy, they joke you'll get married if you work here because so many other people have (unprofessional in my opinion) no room for lateral or vertical growth unless you're a "yes man". Company feels like a sinking ship scrambling to stop hemorrhaging money.

    You cannot just throw a casual day, gently used hotel products, and a pizza party at your problems. Stop putting management/leadership failures on the people pulling the most weight, value your customers instead of putting a price on how much help your willing to give v.s how much they order. Treat your people better.

    Pros

    Direct peers are enjoyable to work with and friendly overall. They can see your strengths. The company has the ability to represent a family oriented atmosphere (Mostly due to the chairperson and his wife). Work from home and flexible scheduling is one of the greatest benefits.

    Kontras

    Management needs a LOT of improvement. They lack the ability to empathize and probably do not care to develop that skill. There is a general sense of uncertainty and little to no positive feedback. If you desire to feel supported and have goals to develop your own skills and work your way up the chain of command I do not suggest working here. Also, the insurance plans are just so-so with very little maternity leave... compared to other companies.

    Allow your staff to guide their path toward bettering themselves. If it means learning a new product category or even investigating other roles in the company try not to respond by showing your own insecurities. Be supportive and create a safe "open door" policy for your subordinates. By keeping your staff down you only keep the organization as a whole down.

    Where do I begin? Your customer base is based on how much they like you. My new manager didn’t like me and replaced my money making accounts with accounts that were scraping by just to stay open. Then I was asked why my sales declined. What a joke of a company.

    Once had a wonderful, close-knit culture. Good associates. Good benefits and pay.

    What used to be a wonderful place to work has quickly turned sour in a matter of months as associates and friends are being let go without warning. Many of these employees had been loyal to the company for at the least, several years, and at most, 25 years! Rather than investing in these people, upper management has decided to eliminate positions and restructure departments in attempts to make up for what is... becoming more and more clear their incompetence to run the company. It is such a shame to see what was once a wonderful family culture turn into a place where people are wanting to bail before the next round of layoffs, which are handled poorly and with no respect to those being laid off nor the associates that remain.

    Figure out a game plan and direction and stop shuffling around and kicking out your employees. People are more than just their roles on paper; allow them the opportunity to help in other ways. Give people time to process rather than kicking them to the curb immediately and without warning. Laid off employees are being treated as if they violated the company's terms and it is disgraceful.

    Direct co-workers are great and have to stick together

    Management has literally been constantly changing for the last 6-7 years. It was such a great company with a great "culture" that they still try to stand behind, but due to a lack of direction from top management they are either letting people go, or people are leaving on their own. Upper management does not work well together and it's just a matter of who can try to save their job. I've worked here for almost 20... years and am saddened by the direction and decisions that have been made. I wish they could turn things around, but it's not promising.

    Instead of having people fear for their jobs everyday, they should focus on trying to keep some of the knowledge they have and build on that instead of getting rid of everyone and bringing on all new, who don't have the industry knowledge, and then letting them go too. The upper management is very weak, they need someone to lead the organization who has knowledge of how to drive a billion dollar company.

    Corporate needs to be more involved in the outlying distribution centers. Allot of good, loyal people have left or been terminated due to favoritism, humiliation. Sad as the company has been in business 154 yrs. To let certain individuals cause great employees to leave the company. Need to offer anger management council or mandatory anger management. And follow up with employees that have left or been wrongfully... terminated.

    Sell the company and stop the misery - you've lost by far too many talented people. Bringing people from Kraft is not a strategy - look what it got you, declining sales, exodus of great talent, incredible amount of useless inventory, and more debt. Sell, sell, sell - the company
