    - Set your own schedule - Excellent work life balance - The work itself is fun - You meet lots of interesting people and occasionally get to help those who buy policies.

    - No training at all, you're just thrown out the door and told to succeed - Lots of promises of help in getting leads and customers that never come through - All the money is at the district coordinator level and above - Lots of pressure to get out and sell, sell, sell before you even understand the product or the sales techniques. - Your commissions get skimmed off anytime a more senior agent "helps" you... because you are inexperienced and untrained - Many areas are so saturated with agents that businesses have "No Aflac" signs on their doors because they have been solicited so often - In spite of the obvious saturation, they push everyone to recruit new agents to compete with you because there are no territories, everyone just goes wherever they want so the areas with the most businesses are overrun with agents coming to their doors - Leadership is a cult of personality with expectations that you will fawn over those at the top - Don't expect to keep your head above water financially when starting out or even after a year - Be prepared for lots of rejections and even some hostility from the prospects you approach

    - Be honest with new agents about how difficult it will be - Develop and provide some training - Stop making promises you have no intention of keeping - Stop ripping your agents off by taking part of what little commission they get when they need help with enrollments

    Agents can not do their job because Aflac provides absolutely no support. Agents can not get their phone calls returned. The leadership is appointment by their sales not by their smarts or abilities. Alot of crazy crooked stuff going on that everyone is overlooking. Dig deep in Aflac's new company, Aflac Group, and you will probably see a class action lawsuit. Agent's are losing accounts and business like crazy due... to the termination of accounts by Aflac Group. Bookkeeping is a mess, agents are not getting paid timely or appropriately. No one investigating and the agents don't know where to turn for help other than finding a good attorney.

    Wake up or watch your company fall. Agents are not shy to report what they have endured. Agent's have integrity, Aflac needs to have the same. Management only hears the good remarks from the few agents that have not encountered issues. Turns a deaf ear to the complaints.

    Flexible schedule means you can balance family and work

    This is a 1099 job. You have ALL of the corporate scrutiny and headaches of a sales job without any benefits, salary or support. You can make money down the line but not for a year or two and they can be lean years. You must have resources set aside or another source of income. Without that you are out of luck. And unless you get a good supervisor you can forget about impactful training.

    Great training resources available. You can find help if you search in the right places. Can quickly move up and be promoted. Good compensation. 1099 is good for tax purposes.

    Kontras

    Can be tough to get started. Not totally a con but have to be able to be a self motivator at times. No benefits due to 1099 status.

    Pros

    If you are confident you will have an established client base and already have know of the Insurance world, you may do great. People are very nice

    It is commission only and mandatory training is unpaid, yes you are peeing away your time for three weeks. You are expected to build your base any cold calling if you have no warm leads. As someone just getting into the insurance field, it is nearly impossible to go find clients who don’t already have some type of insurance and are willing to work with you. I joined with a small group of people who have all quit... since then. I would have a better chance of making money going door-to-door selling dog turds.
