Ich habe bei 84 Lumber gearbeitet (Über 3 Jahre)

    Pros

There are pros? I never found them.

    Kontras

Lets start with pay. 84 lumber is horrible at recognizing the positions that should be paid well. If you think an estimator should be paid the same as a guy that drives a truck... you're in the correct place. If you think people who know construction don't deserve to be paid along with the industry standards... you're in the correct place.

    Rat an das Management

This is laughable. Its unfortunate but management is stuck in its ways. I have seen people that have failed in their position be promoted. That sends an awesome message. Also I worked next to a guy that would play poker on his phone literally all day ( i wish i was joking). His construction knowledge extended only to the products and not really how to use them. It was nice to see him get a raise.

I can't tell you how happy i am to have left the company. Maybe instead of putting time and effort into promotions and garbage giveaways, you could pay attention to what is actually happening in your stores and what your people actually contribute.

i realize this will fall on deaf ears. I'd say good luck, but i really don't care.

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei 84 Lumber (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

I have great coworkers. We all are in similar positions so we make the best of what we can. Middle management in my department does not micromanage if you do your job. The company's financial stability is great.

    Kontras

The job is not terribly demanding but the pay is low compared to other companies and benefits are overall below average. No vacation your first year. I had intended to make a career here, however, management (at least in my department of THQ - I have heard stores are different)) does not promote growth. I just do my function until told to do something else. Any attempt to advance is brushed off. After a while it's hard to be motivated to continue to work hard with the low pay, long hours, lack of advancement, and benefits that are below average. I have begun taking on responsibilities well beyond my intended positions (such as training new employees while maintaining a more than full workload) with seemingly no career benefit. I have witnessed 3 separate instances of cherry picking for advancement while well qualified candidates (even more so than the chosen candidate) aren't given an opportunity to even apply. One employee was many hours late and left every day for months before getting a reprimand and was then given a company car to use. So despite my desires to make a career here, I have begun to search for new employment.

    Rat an das Management

Change company pay, benefits, policies, and procedures to be more in line with other 21st century companies.

Ich habe in Vollzeit bei 84 Lumber gearbeitet (mehr als ein Jahr)

    Pros

Great co-workers. Good education. Good benifits

    Kontras

Upper management is awful, not personable at all. Hourly salary is a joke. Only way to make money was to sell and still it wasn't that great. False promises. Only way to move up is to relocate. Lots of cons.

    Rat an das Management

Take care of your people. Don't forget who puts all that money in your pocket. Try getting to know some of them. Let go of your egos

Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei 84 Lumber (Über 3 Jahre)

    Pros

Benefit package is good and the guaranteed hours are great but to much. Corporate support is top notch. 401k match is amazing.

    Kontras

48 hour work weeks. Pay is sub par for the job responsibilities. They do not do store wide yearly pay raises (this year they skipped assistant managers and managers)

    Rat an das Management

Realize the difference between the southern market and the market up north. Fix the pay differential
