    Pros

The benefits, snacks and some agents

    Kontras

What are the 4 major signs of a toxic work environment, people? Hmm. Let’s see. 1. Narcissistic leadership. 2. High turn over. 3. Poor communication. 4. Employees are unhappy/bad attitude. Well, doesn’t this sound like Viator! How pleasant.

If I could right a 5 page essay on all the cons I would but I will give you the basic rundown about how horrible this place is. For starters, the leadership/management team is extremely under qualified. What education or qualification do they have besides working at the company 6+ years? Let’s be honest, the job is easy for them and they are there to collect a paycheck/benefits and leave. Most do not know or understand the product. Let’s give them a test and see if they would pass. Have them work cases for an hour to see if they can complete 10 in that hour. They do not care about the agents that are under them and if they say they do, that’s a lie. Management team does not work hard at all. They have hour long discussions and pow wows on the floor about their personal life with each other and other employees, but expect agents to work like robots. It’s ‘customer care’ yet they do not care about the customers. Calls will hold for 10+ minutes because leads or management do not pick it up when there is low to no coverage. When the backlog is high, shouldn’t all hands be on deck? Or does that sound too much like, right?

Questions to ask management. How have they embraced the main TripAdvisor Values at Viator? Ask them, at what point has management recognized great work ethic to their employees and how? How do they development their employees? That’s my point. They don’t. The mid reviews and annual reviews are a joke. The only time they have a discussion with you is when they point out something you did wrong or scold you. How great is that!? :) What tools or resources have been provided to me, to help me with employee development? Oh, nothing. How fantastic.

Instead of negative reinforcement, how about trying something different like positive reinforcement, but I guess that takes too much work....? Ah, the unknowns.

Anyways, desks are empty and people don’t show up. Great employees have quit (without putting in a two weeks notice) while you have the mediocre employees left that do JUST enough to get by. Call ins are through the roof. People do not work together as a team and hard work ethic is not something they embrace. But I guess, that’s what happens when you have a leadership team that has the same mentality. It also says a lot that the one of the Directors left without notice earlier this year. A DIRECTOR.

Let’s admit it. Communication is non existent there. It’s as simple as that.

My advice to the employees who are still there who want to see improvement, stick together - do not let the leadership team intimidate, bully or lie to you. Go straight to the top (CEO/President) to voice your concerns and frustrations. They absolutely know what’s going on.

The only positive, that I’ve learned from working here, is learning what NOT to do. You learn a lot more from bad management than good management, so I thank you for that.

The system is broken. This place is a complete fail and it’s showing. Time to look in the mirror, people. I look forward to an uncandid response. :)

    Rat an das Management

CLEAN HOUSE IMMEDIATELY. A fresh start is always a positive. Dermot needs to bring a more qualified team in.

    Bewerbung

Ich habe mich über einen Personalvermittler beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte mehr als 4 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Oktober 2018 bei Viator (Sydney (Australien)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

The process was very long, consisting of an online coding test through HackerRank, followed by a phone interview and then 2 on-site interviews involving whiteboard coding. I was made to do this during work hours, consuming several hours across multiple weeks. I was then told at the last stage that I wasn't good enough and that I struggled with my problem solving - even though I solved all the problems given to me.

Basically, be prepared to make a large time investment into an unnecessarily long interview process.
