Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei The Berkeley Partnership (Weniger als ein Jahr)

    Pros

Firstly, the culture at Berkeley is something that has really impressed me and I'm still enjoying it 9 months in. The firm is small enough that you genuinely get to know everyone (quite different to my past 400k employee organisation) and this means there is a deep level of expertise and experience that you have instant access to - and most importantly the people here go out of their way to help if you need it, and this is at all levels - Consultants, Partners and the operations team. The Partner team are considerate when placing you for roles (where you live, what outside commitments you have, what experience you want to get, what you like doing) and this is different to anything I have known in the past. You are treated like humans (not resources) and this makes for a great place to be.
Secondly, the work genuinely is fascinating. You have a position with clients that is unique, with access to senior leadership who truly value the work we do and the support we give to their teams. The view here is that 'we do the right thing' and this genuinely is the case. For us as consultants there are no utilisation targets, no sales targets we just have to focus on doing the best job possible and are supported in our role by a 'Listening Partner' who is there to support, not manage you . We don't have huge Berkeley teams working on projects but a few key people in key roles doing really interesting and complicated pieces of work.

And we have a fab new office :-)

    Kontras

I'm still in the first year so soaking up the way of working and observing how the team operate - so far I don't have any cons worth reporting but will be back after a year or so to reflect a bit more.

    Bewerbung

Ich habe mich über eine Vermittlungsagentur beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte mehr als 4 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im Juli 2018 bei The Berkeley Partnership (London, England (Vereinigtes Königreich)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

    Three stage interview process:
First stage is a conversation with a partner, reasonably standard exploration of your CV and discussion of the company.
Second stage involves preparing two (verbal) presentations on previous engagements. You get ten minutes to present and then have 30 minutes of questions on each from two partners.
Third stage is a case study exercise, where you are presented with a pile of information, and have 20-30 minutes to prepare for a simulated 'client' meeting, observed by a partner. You then have some time to assimilate the results of the meeting before presenting your approach to the engagement back to the partner, who will challenge on your assessment of the situation. Finally you have to write a written response back to the client detailing the approach.
I found the whole process engaging and challenging, particularly the third stage, where there is a real challenge in every step of the interview to get the activities complete in the time available. The investment in time from the partners in each interview process is great, and i had some really interesting discussions throughout the process. Decisions on each stage are very rapid, typically either the same day or the next day at the latest.
In addition to the third stage case study there is a psychometric test and critical thinking test to complete. These are apparently used as additional info to inform the offer decision, and are not a pass/fail
