Ich arbeite in Vollzeit bei Pearson Online & Blended Learning (Über 3 Jahre)

    Pros

Nearly 100% remote, family-friendly, flexible with schedules, and no dress code. Employees are currently given a ton of autonomy, which leads to great work. My team feels like family. We are passionate about the meaningful nature of the work and work diligently with our students, teachers and parents at the forefront of our minds.

    Kontras

Actions from upper management are contrary to the core values they tout. I am deeply concerned about the future of my business area. Over the past couple of years, major changes have led to layoffs and a major shift toward outsourcing. As someone who truly cares for our work, and the effect it has on our students, it is disheartening to see yet another company give in to outsourcing which will inevitably reduce the quality of the products we deliver to our students.

    Rat an das Management

I realize changes are necessary to keep up with business needs. But slow down. Listen - *really* listen - to those of us down the totem pole. We care so much about our students, the quality of the work we produce for them. Let us work WITH you to help develop the best way moving forward. Don't jump so deep and so quickly into outsourcing, or you will surely lose the spirit of Connections - the very thing that inspired you to welcome the company into the Pearson family. I am deeply concerned about what these changes will do to our students, our teachers, our families. It is disheartening to see another great company slip into the Corporate Ether.

    Bewerbung

Ich habe mich online beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte mehr als 2 Monate. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert bei Pearson Online & Blended Learning.

    Vorstellungsgespräch

The interview process took a very long time and felt very impersonal at first. It started when I applied online and about a week later I received an invitation to conduct an online interview. This was not an interview but rather a chance to record my responses to about a dozen questions. I felt funny going through this process without having talked to a single person at the company so I contacted their HR department. After being bounced around to half a dozen people I finally got in touch with someone willing to talk to me over the phone, however this person was unable to answer most of my questions about the position or the architecture team. I conducted the online interview anyway. A couple of weeks passed before receiving any type of response. Soon afterwards I was invited to the office for an in-person interview with a follow-up interview 2 weeks later. These interviews finally gave me a chance to learn more about the position, the duties, the company's culture, and benefits. However my meeting with the architecture team was very underwhelming. They were late to the interview, I was hurried through my questions, not given a chance to even complete my sentences, and I was asked many low-level programming questions rather than actual architecture questions. The interview concluded with the absurd question, "If there was a zombie apocalypse and you could call one person, who would it be?"
