    Pros

    The furniture at Dania is pretty nice. Many of the manufacturers provide great products at a decent price - though not all of them. Co-Workers maintained a positive attitude almost all the time.

    Kontras

    The first thing I noticed at Dania is that management does not trust their employees. Everyone has had bad employees in the past, so I can understand mistrust, but if you cannot trust your people they cannot effectively perform their jobs. I also noticed that the store had a high turnover rate, both before me and during my time with them. In terms of compensation, the benefits are pretty much the minimum possible available and pay is at the low end of similar jobs in the furniture industry. There was no training in this job whatsoever, and learning was an uphill battle. At every mistake you are reprimanded, but given no course for improvement. Good and loyal employees are made by building people up, not by breaking them down.

    For me the worst part of this job was Dania's customer service. Not the service of the employees, who were all excellent, but of Dania's actual systems and policies. In the modern day of immediate satisfaction, customers are constantly forced to wait. Even the processes of ringing up a customer's order takes abnormally long. Customers often wait weeks for service or for their issues to be addressed. None of Dania's policies are particularly clear to the customer from the get-go, but if a customer fails to follow the company's guidelines they are told "too bad, so sad". Even though customers are spending thousands of dollars on furniture, Dania is careless and indifferent to their needs.

    Rat an das Management

    Support your employees and build them up, instead of breaking them down. Dania has not survived due to good business acumen, in fact, it appears to be slowly sinking. The only thing keeping the boat afloat is the quality of the furniture, and the relationships your employees have with their customers. If you don't value those things, your business will die.
