Ich habe in Vollzeit bei British Airways gearbeitet (Über 10 Jahre)

    Pros

    - flexibel work time
    - good opportunities to develop

    Kontras

    - some departments are way too bureaucratic
    - not all senior managers have the guts to make decisions

    Vorstellungsgespräch

At first our documents are taken with the passports, proof of address etc. We were given a document were we had to fill in our basic information, also had to mark any tattoos or piercings. Then we were taken in groups to another room where we had to do a reach test twice, get measured and sit in a jumpseat. We then got asked about any tattoos and had to show them if asked. As long as the uniform covers it you’re good (long sleeve uniform and trousers are available).
We then got called into a big room where they held a presentation on the company and answered any questions. We then went back to the lobby and after some waiting I was called into another room with 5 other candidates. We had to do a group exercise and had one assessor assigned to each person. They made notes about us and basically gave us points throughout the day. The group exercise went really well and wasn’t difficult to accomplish.
After that we were called individually into another room where we had 2 minutes to read through a scenario on an iPad which we then, after two minutes preparation time, had to play through with the assessor. I had to play a receptionist and deal with an angry guest and his requests. Which was tricky because the assessor knows about the information given and he didn’t cooperate at all. Thus it was quite difficult because I am no receptionist and I don’t know how to handle a situation based off facts I know nothing about, which would be completely different if I was actually working the job or were allowed to give basic customer service. But they wanted me to stay true to the facts like the opening time of the pool or the costs of the spa, any alternatives the hotel offers etc. which again I had only two minutes to look over.
After 10 minutes role play he left the room and I was given 1 minute to read through a text which I then had to read out loud while standing up once he was back. This is most likely to see how you would speak during announcements on board and as this is British Airways they most definitely want to hear a British accent. After some more waiting some of us got called into another room and given the information that we didn’t make it past the first stage and can apply again in 6 months time.
