Ich habe mich online beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte mehr als 4 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert im März 2012 bei Addison (New York, NY (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).

    Vorstellungsgespräch

I met a person from Addison at a career fair in February. The employee gave me his/her card and told me to call the next week because they might have something opening up that I'd be a good fit for. Initially I was excited since you aren't usually encouraged to call. I made the call and was told that management was still reviewing my resume and to call next week. I call the next week and leave a message but then over the next weekend I see that they post a job that is what I had been told I'd be a good fit for so I call again since I haven't heard from the company. I'm told yes that this is the job they thought I'd be a good fit for and am asked to submit a cover letter and within a few hours after I sent it in, I was contacted for an in person interview the next week.

The interview was fine, it was a one on one with the manager and with the CEO. Feedback during the interview was that I had lots of great applicable experience. I sent thank you notes and even received a response from both of them. I was then asked to write a paper (very little information provided but generally asked to do an overview of a potential client company within 2 pages) and submit it a week later. I received an immediate response saying well done and told they'd be in touch. Then....nothing. I waited two weeks and emailed to find out if I was still being considered for the position. A few hours later I was told they picked someone else, that the person had submitted specific recommendations (not asked for when given the assignment so don't stay within the box for this company, go outside) and that the person had more direct experience. I was also told that perhaps something else will open up that I'd be a fit for and hopefully our paths will cross again.

If I'd received the email prior to me reaching out I probably would have been more receptive, but found the whole process strange that I had to constantly check-in to apply and was seemingly encouraged for a job that they ultimately didn't think I'd be right for. Frankly, if I don't have the direct experience they're looking for now I'm unsure why I would in the future. Why go through the whole process yet again just to be told no?
