    Ich habe mich online beworben. Der Vorgang dauerte 3 Wochen. Vorstellungsgespräch absolviert bei AACSB International (Tampa, FL (Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika)).


    Internal recruiter contacted me and encouraged me to apply. I did. The application consisted of an hours-long extensive questionnaire. RED FLAG #1. [I should have quit at this stage considering the ridiculous questions asked—inclusive of current salary—but stupid me]. The recruiter who encouraged me to apply then ghosted me. RED FLAG #2. I had to reinitiate contact some time later which resulted in the schedule of a video interview with “the team,” to use the recruiter’s words. When I logged into the interview, only the recruiter was present. Where’s “the team”? RED FLAG #3. Also, she could not have looked more bored if she tried. RED FLAG #4.

    The interview consisted of another barrage of ridiculous questions. Didn’t I already do this with the questionnaire? RED FLAG #5. After the rapid-fire session, the recruiter said she could address any questions regarding the job description and position and I was allowed to ask questions. Great! I had 5 questions. I asked the first three and did not bother asking the other two. The recruiter could not answer one of them. RED FLAG #6.

    Ultimately, I am uncertain theirs was a good faith search for an external candidate. Or a dog and pony show to say they could not find a suitable person externally, thus justifying going with an internal candidate who they had pegged for the job all along. Who knows?

    Additional Note: If you peruse this organization’s website, you will see page after page about how they are innovative and expect the business schools they bestow accreditation on to be innovative. Yet, there is nothing innovative about their hiring process. Almost everything I experienced in their hiring process screamed 1950’s. On their website there are even sections that address the gender pay gap. Yet, they ask candidates their pay history, which research shows is the single most effect way to perpetuate the pay gap. You would think someone in a business organization would do some business research and act accordingly. Their thinly veiled attempts at creating psychological profiles of candidates—the extensive application questionnaire and irrelevant-to-the-job/company questions—is also both a tired and a tiresome tactic from the 1990’s and 2000’s. To me, on paper, they seem to want good, dynamic people. After experiencing this hiring process, I feel they are really looking for sheep and automatons. Now none of it matters, for I will be moving on to companies that actually practice what they preach.
